Queen Ann's Lace invites you to come in and get your quilting fabric and supplies!  - Quilting - a universal language.

Classes are arranged alphabetically below in sections:

These classes are either being introduced this season or are being brought back by popular demand. Innovative and fun classes to spark your creativity.

 

Block of the Month Classes - click here!

Included in this section are our ongoing classes that last multiple months or multiple sessions. Here you'll find exquisite examples of the quilting craft, where you'll be led down path to a completed quilt. We'll show samples and explain difficult or new techniques each class session. You'll love these classes and you'll enjoy making new friends that you can catch up with each session!

These are classes that have proved popular here at Queen Ann's Lace. From the beginner class created with the assistance of Alex Anderson (Simply Quilts and The Quilt Show) to the amazing "One Block Wonder" you'll be dazzled by these delightful classes.

More than just classes, these are the special sessions for specific groups. From Project Linus get-togethers to our Bernina Clubs (Bernina Club and Embroidery Club), these sessions just require you to register before attending.

Angel Friends

Faith, Hope & Love

Come see the new Hoffman fabric, “Glacier Lights”, designed by McKenna Ryan for her new pattern, “Faith, Hope & Love”, when it arrives during the month of August. The class will feature making the “LOVE” block. There are nine pieces in the pattern collection and we will be doing one a month.

Includes piecing and appliqué techniques.

Kwik Krazy Quilt

Instructor: Norma Handley

Thursday, Sept. 19 & Oct. 9, 6 pm—8:30 pm

Saturday, Oct. 4, 11 am—4pm

Fee: $25.00

Bring your machine

Easy to make Krazy Quilt. Using a freezer paper pattern you will stack, cut, shuffle the pieces and sew. Leave blocks plain or use your decorative stitches to embellish. Great for batiks, Orientals or even 30’s reproductions.

Quilt by the Square

Fee:  $30.00

Bring finished quilt blocks (such as your blocks of the month, etc.) for the lst class. Blocks will be quilted separately in class by hand or by machine. You will be putting the quilted blocks together in the second class.

Serger Basics

Bring your serger and learn threading, settings, tension adjustments and various serger stitches to incorporate in your sewing. Then sign up for the Serger Pillow to practice what you learn.

Pre-Requisite: Serger Basics

Use multiple serger feet and techniques to construct this adorable, easy accent pillow totally on a serger. Includes piecing, inserting the zipper, embellishing and ruffled edge. Leave with completed pillow.

Yes… you can stipple!  I will share the “secrets” with you.  We will learn to free motion with ease.  If you can drop those feed dogs, it will be a breeze.

International Mystery Series 2008

Instructor: Debbie LaFrance

Tour will meet Third Thursday of the month  from 6 pm—8 pm

Fee: $50.00 per month

Bring your machine

This popular club will take you on a tour of the globe! We have traveled to Mexico, Japan and created a quilt and enjoyed a meal from each country Come and join us for our next stops on the tour: Cuba in May, Turkey in June and Native America in July. Your all-inclusive tour package will have fabric and pattern for making all the blocks for your quilt top, class instructions and a meal. Our tour has limited space so register early for 1 country or for all remaining.

Sampler Block of the Month 2008 - Ramblin' Rose

Instructor: Debbie LaFrance

First Thursday @ 7:00pm  OR

First Saturday @ 9:30 am  OR

First Friday @ 10:00am (Note: lst Friday in July is July 4, class will meet on Friday, July 11 @ 10:00 am)

Fee: $10.00  first month—bring last month’s block finished, get next month’s free

Join us as we will be making 12” finished blocks using Marti Michell template sets “A” & “C” for this quilt. At the end of 12 months, you will have a quilt that measures approximately 80” x 101”.

Sit ‘n Sew

Instructor: Debbie LaFrance
Fee: $10.00 each night
Tuesdays from 6 pm—9 pm
Bring your machine

This is your “license to sew” time with no interruptions from outside sources. You get as much or as little help as needed. Karen will be available to guide you through the challenges and encourage everyone as their projects near completion. You use the time as you need.

One Block Wonder

In this 10 hour class, each student will learn how to create a kaleidoscope watercolor quilt

marvel using hexagons from one single fabric.

Paula’s Strip Quilting

Paper Piecing 101

This is the “other” way to quilt. Fast, easy and lots of fun. Once you’ve paper pieced you may never want to go back to traditional quilting. Perfect points every time. Bring small and large scraps. Patterns will be supplied.

Beginner level

Begin quilting with this small rail fence project.  Learn rotary cutting, fabric selection, 1/4” seams, borders, quilting and binding a finished 45” square quilt. FOLLOW UP WITH FRIENDSHIP STAR CLASS.

Jelly Rolls!! Jelly Rolls!! Jelly Rolls!!

Everyone loves Jelly rolls!  Come and make a quilt top or other project using Jelly rolls.  A lot of the cutting is already done for you so the quilt goes together quick.  A different project each month.

Yellow Brick Road Trip

10:00am—noon

This is an optional hands-on class this month. Bring your machine and learn to create crochet lace edgings for pillowcases, towels, garments, etc. Kit available for a small fee.

Reservation required for hands-on participants.

 

Bernina Club is free to all customers who purchased their machine at Queen Ann’s Lace. The fee is $5.00 for all others.

 

Refreshments, show & tell and door prize.

Embroidery Club

 

Floral Filigree Tablerunner

Thursday, August 21, 5:30-8:30pm

Create an embroidered tablerunner using Floral Filigree designs available from Embroidery Take-out. Make it seasonal as you choose.

 

Drunkard's Path Outline Quilting

Saturday, September 20, 1:00-4:00pm

Embellish your 6-block Drunkards Path pieced from the morning Bernina Club, including free outline quilting designs.

 

Bullseye Quilt

Saturday, October 11, 1:00-4:00pm

Use circular quilting to quilt a bull's-eye quilt. Embroidery Club is free to all customers who purchased their machine at Queen Ann’s Lace. The fee is $20.00 for all others.

 

Registration is required for each session.

Project Linus
Director: Susan Murphy, Chapter Coordinator
3rd Friday; 10:00am – 1:00pm
Join in anytime you can and help make blankets/quilts to give to children in need. Come with or without your machine and be prepared to work on getting these comfort blankets completed for distribution. The more given, the more are needed to give out. Your help will not be turned away.
